Rat Molecular Testing Services

Cerberus Sciences offers a wide range of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays for the detection of multiple pathogens concerning rats. Our list of available assays is continually growing so please contact us if the test you require is not listed.

Samples can be submitted as fresh faeces, FLOQ swabs, tissues, exhaust air dust (EAD) filters or live animals depending on the pathogen for detection and facility requirements. Survival sampling has enhanced simplicity of quarantine testing of valuable animals, disease outbreak management, sample collection and transportation.

As the variety of agents available for testing is vast, the testing frequency and agent prevalence should be considered. Cerberus can assist in developing a suitable testing regime for your facility.

Molecular Environmental Panels (EAD/Rack Plenum)

Advances in technology and reductions in animals usage are seeing more facilities gravitate towards novel health screening approaches such as Exhaust Air Dust (EAD) testing over more traditional methods such as soiled bedding sentinels (SBS). Cerberus PCR assays can detect a variety of viruses, bacteria and parasites in dust samples collected from rack plenum and commercial EAD filters.
